Maintained in open stands by regular, low-intensity fires

500-3000 ft.

Douglas-fir and mixed evergreen forests; Pacific madrone and tanoak


Sites
Cool humid sites near coast to hot, dry sites inland


Identification Notes
Can be distinguished from valley oak by acorns
