Education Evaluation Topical Interest Group
of the American Evaluation Association
I'm please to report that our TIG is very alive and well. While we usually wait until early in the new year to distribute a newsletter, it seemed important to communicate who your representatives are for 2000 and to convey some important changes in planning for AEA '00, slated for November 1-4 in Honolulu. AEA '99
The Extension Education Evaluation Topical Interest Group (EEE-TIG) was well
represented among the more than 1300 persons attending the American Evaluation
Association meeting in Orlando, Florida November 3-6, 1999. The EEE-TIG sponsored
two paper sessions, two panels, four round tables, and eight posters. Presenters
included persons from extension organizations, CSREES, community and governmental
agencies. You can find a complete list of our 1999 sessions at: http://danr.ucop.edu/eee-aea/eee-tig_sponsored_activities.htm
AEA '00 -- On
the fast track!
As noted above, AEA 2000 is slated for November 1-4 in Honolulu. The overall
conference theme will be "Increasing Evaluation Capacity" and special
emphasis will be placed on engaging the international evaluation community.
Our TIG is a strong actor in the conference offering several sessions, workshops,
roundtables, posters and often pre-sessions. To generate that level of involvement
and to direct attention to issues of particular relevance to extension education
evaluators, our TIG issues a separate call for papers. Because of changes in
the overall conference planning process and time line, that call will be coming
very soon after the start of the new year. The overall AEA '00 call for proposals
will follow in mid January and due date for proposal submissions will be March
31.
If you have ideas for EEE-TIG sessions, please forward them as soon as possible to Nancy Ellen Kiernan, Chair Elect and Program Chair (Phone: (814) 865 1209, e-mail: nekiernan@psu.edu). The Board will be discussing the call for papers in a conference call on December 20. Your input will be most valuable if received by Nancy Ellen prior to that call. The board also will be finalizing the paper submission process during our conference call. At this point, it is highly likely that our TIG papers will be submitted through the WWW process established by AEA and that will be described in detail in their call for proposals. We will make sure our TIG call for proposals complements and supports that process.
Here's looking to an exciting new year for EEE-TIG!
