The EEE-TIG sponsored 4 multi-paper sessions, 1 panel, 1 demonstration, 1 poster, and 1 roundtable involving 16 presentations during the 2001 American Evaluation Association Meeting in St. Louis in November 2001. 

Many thanks to all the presenters:  Your time and contributions help further our extension evaluation profession.

 

At the 2001 annual meeting of the EEE-TIG, Chair, Nancy Ellen Kiernan summarized the following accomplishments: 

1) 10 contributions to the e-forum, “Hear-It-From-the-Board”.   These evaluation ideas, written by Board members, are stored on the WWW-TIG web site at :  http://danr.ucop.edu/eee-aea/Hear_it_From_the_Board

2) new EEE-TIG brochure; particularly useful to encourage new and minority participation in our TIG

3)     expanded outreach with the 1994 Tribal Colleges

4)  acceptance of all eee-tig proposed sessions at St. Louis conference.

Following the business meeting, we had a lively discussion and sharing of ideas and situations that differ across our institutions.  It was great to see a number of “new” faces at the St. Louis conference. We hope to see everyone again next year in Washington. 

           

 

***  THE BOARD MET during the American Evaluation Association conference in St. Louis in early November.  We welcomed new members, discussed business items and set the following goals for 2002:

 

1)  Outreach Strategies

a.      Use listserv to involve total membership in diversifying our membership base      

b.      Contact 1890 and 1994 Universities to recruit new minority members

c.      Continue to use Claude Bennett and Jane Coulter as liaisons for enriching our membership

2)  Hear it from the Board – eforum

a.      Continue the monthly contributions.

            3)  Extension Evaluation Competencies

a.      The board discussed hosting a one-day pre-session at next year’s annual conference.  Possible themes:  capacity building in evaluation; program and evaluation models being used in extension

1)  AEROL on line again: Action Evaluation: A new course cycle is beginning soon.  This is an interesting and useful course on evaluation using an action-research approach is offered several times per year by Southern Cross University in Australia via the Internet. I have taken this course and vouch for its professionalism and ease of use. You do not have to take the course for credit, as far as I am aware. The course also has linkages to several resource basis for action evaluation as well as several on line journals.

The Department of Agriculture (USDA) is seeking to fill the position of the

GS-15 Director, Office of Planning and Accountability for the CSREES. This

position is located in the Agency's Office of the Administrator. The

incumbent serves as the focal point for agency and national strategic

planning and accountability and policy analysis for research, education, and

extension programs. In this capacity, the incumbent leads and facilitates

planning activities that implement emerging agency policy and responds to

accountability mandates of the Government Performance and Results Act of

1993 and the Agricultural Research, Extension, and Education Reform Act of

1998. These activities are carried out in cooperation with the land-grant

universities and other cooperators who are the recipients of Federal funds

through CSREES. Specifically, the incumbent: Oversees development of the

agency strategic plan and annual performance plans and reports; Initiates

major studies and program evaluation research; Defines impact assessment

studies; Plans, conducts, and/or participates in workshops to facilitate a

common understanding and application of impact assessment efforts; Prepares

special reports and position papers; Stays abreast of developments in

planning systems and techniques (to include advanced impact assessment

methodologies and survey, statistical and econometric techniques); Designs

and conducts program analysis of CSREES programs; and Monitors reporting
