CE Advisor. The actual description will vary with the appointment and the subject matter
area.)
NATURE AND PURPOSE
The CE Advisor is responsible for conducting Extension
programs in a specified subject area. He or she is expected to develop and implement
educational and applied research programs in the area of responsibility for the
county/area clientele, and to maintain and disseminate current information to the
county/area clientele.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
The Cooperative Extension Advisor is responsible for
extending knowledge and information in a specialty area; for engaging in applied research
and creative activity; for demonstrating professional competence and activity; and for
performing University and public service. Specifically:
- Provide leadership for county/area Extension educational
programs in area of responsibility.
- Provide current and applicable information to county/area
clientele through consultations, meetings, newsletters, publications, workshops, and other
appropriate means.
- Identify and assess the needs and problems of the
county/area clientele; develop and implement an applied research program relative to area
of responsibility.
- Participate in appropriate professional societies and
organizations and in operational and organizational activities within the Division of
Agriculture and Natural Resources (DANR).

- Develop, with the concurrence of the County Director and
the Regional Director, a statement of program mission and a definition of potential
program clientele that embody a commitment to serve diverse ethnic and gender groups.
- Plan and conduct programs in such a manner as to provide
equitable service to all ethnic and gender groups that comprise the potential clientele
population for the program.
- Identify any barriers to clientele participation related to
ethnicity, gender, or other characteristic of concern under the University's
nondiscrimination policies, and take corrective action to remove such barriers.
- Collect, and keep current, demographic data identifying the
ethnic and gender distribution of the potential clientele population for the program.
- Compile and maintain documentation of service to each
ethnic and gender group within the clientele population served by the program, including
statistical records of clientele contacts, quantitative and qualitative evaluations of
benefit realized by clientele, and reports of any special efforts to serve
underrepresented groups.
RELATIONSHIPS
Supervised by and reports to the County Director or SSPP
Director. Maintains communication and a working relationship with CE Specialists,
Experiment Station personnel, and coworkers.
